Josh is a handsome young man desperately in love with his best friend's girlfriend, Violet. Even if Mark, the best friend, knows about this, he refuses to regard it as important, and instead hooks Josh up with one blind date after another. The most recent one; Remy, a wild quirky brunette, who hides a grand crush towards Mark.
Josh, Mark and Violet used to go to school together, so they know each other for a long time already. What is not really certain, is how exactly Violet feels about Josh. She gives subtle hints as if the interest was mutual, but never acts on it further. Remy works in the same office as Mark.
"I thought about Violet. It wasn’t enough that the woman I had been in love with for years now loved one of my best friends. He had managed to fix me up with a date who was into him as well. I suppressed a sigh. Sometimes it seemed impossible that we were still friends."
"Remy was enjoying the movie. She had a genuine, happy smile on her slender face. At times, she turned to me, and her eyes glimmered at the bright lights from the screen. But she wasn’t there with me. She was doing Mark a favor. She told me he had come to her at work, asking if she was free on Valentines. She had thought he wanted to go out with her himself. And after he told her about the plan and the blind date, she only agreed to please him. So she wasn’t there for me or my amusement. We both wanted someone else."Even though the situation looks rather desperate, Remy comes up with a plan, according to which they begin to date, but secretly trying to spend more and more time with Violet and Mark, separately if possible.
I won't tell more, since I don't want to spoil the story for any possible readers (or myself, for that matter). The main idea is this, anyways.

I loved this story! Especially this part: "Not a date, merely a business deal. No emotions involved, except towards certain third party elements." That cracked me up for some reason...like an anti-date...
I'm curious to know what happens in this story now...
